The Depth of Team USA

As the 2012 Olympics come rolling around the corner, we start to realize how deep this USA team really is. There is so much talent, but only 5 spots...

Below we created 4 possible Olympic teams, using girls who have a legitiment shot at making the team even if its for just one event. We took their highest scores on each event from an international meet and combined their scores to create a final team score. (If they haven't competed in an international meet, we took their most recent national score.) Next to their all around score, is where they could have placed in the 2011 World all around final. (All rules aside!) This shows how strong the USA Gymnastics team is, and that even a weaker team can place well. (And yes, this is just for fun!)

*Bold indicates what events they will compete in team final
*All of these girls could make the real Olympic team, we divided these girls up into four teams for the sake of the article based only on our opinions.

With these scores at the 2011 World Championships, Team A would have won the gold medal. Team B would have gotten the silver, Team C would have placed 8th, and Team D would have got a bronze medal!

So yes, this is pretty unrealistic considering we took the best score each girl has ever gotten on each event. But at the same time it is possible! Hopefully you all found this pretty interesting, I mean come on, look at all those world champions we have!
