Highlights from the final day of the P&G Championships- Juniors

Ariana Agrapides
Quite possibly the next big vaulter in the US, It's not a surprise that Ari won the vault title in her very first national championships! Ari has a huge double twisting yurchenko that has scored very high in every meet this season and she nailed it on the final day of competition scoring a 15.400 AND a 9.6 in execution. Ari also had a great floor routine nailing her piked full in and overall having a really solid routine in both days of competition. I personally think she should have been added to the National Team for her vault alone, just for how perfect it is. I think she could definitely win medals in international competitions with that vault. Bars and beam unfortunately weren't her best, but I think Ari has a lot of potential for the future. In her first year as an elite, Ari has racked up quite the titles, not only is she the new national champion on vault, but she is also the American Classic all around champion, and placed 2nd on vault at the Secret Classic.  It really is a shame that she's too young for Rio.



Laurie Hernandez
I think by now you are all aware of my love for Laurie Hernandez. She is just so fierce and so fun to watch. I'm impressed with how far she's come in a year! At her first national championships in 2012, Laurie placed 21st in the all around. In just a short year Laurie has moved all the way up in the rankings to 2nd all around, 2nd on bars and floor, and 3rd on beam. Laurie is definitely going to be a huge factor in the future and I can't wait to see where she goes!



Vanasia Bradley
Another favorite of mine, I was super happy to see Vanasia win a silver medal on vault. She scored a 15.100 on both days of competition for her clean and nearly stuck double twisting yurchenko. Vanasia also placed 11th all around and that was counting a fall during each day of competition. So really not bad for her first national championships. Luckily Vanasia has a lot of upgrades in the works on all four events, so hopefully she'll be even better next year.



Bailie Key
I can't talk about highlights of the competition without mentioning Bailie Key! Bailie is so rock solid and confident, her new all around title is well deserved. Bailie also took home the gold medal on beam and floor where she was flawless! I know people say that there is no such thing as perfect, but sometimes I feel like Bailie Key makes that statement very untrue. Congrats to Bailie on her winnings, again they were well deserved.

 

Amelia Hundley
In her 4th National Championships, Hundley has finally found herself on the all around podium AND bringing home a national title on bars! In Hartford, Hundley has looked stronger then ever and fought back after a fall on the beam day 1. This was Hundley's last National Championships as a junior and she definitely went out with a bang.
